Jamie Stevenson Retires from International Orienteering

Jamie Stevenson

There's not really much more to say that hasn't already been said about Jamie Stevenson.  Legend.  He's been there and done it for Team GB.

At least for all my life he's been the top runner to see training, to watch competing and to aspire too and he has now announced international retirement to join his family adventures and move into other things.

Jamie Stevenson QuoteHe started his World Orienteering career in 1997 and continued all the way up to last year, crowning his achievements with a gold medal (be it under unfortunate circumstances with Thierry Gueorgiou) but he has still been British Orienteering's best male athlete in recent times.

He has graced the top position in the world in 2002 and has also won Gold in many World Orienteering Chapionships, but couldn't find his illusive Gold in the Long Distance Championships at WOC.

Good luck to Jamie and I'm sure he'll be in the world top 20 for years to come.
